This is an excerpt from information provided by President Minker.

The Bargaining Committee went through six meetings with the County from August-December 2012. No progress was made with Joe Carillo so we moved into mediation. We had our first meeting with the mediator on January 17th. She laid out the general rules. Here is a list of topics that we are working on.

1. Comp Time

2. Double OT pay on the 6 big holidays (2x vs 1.5x)

3. 95/5 medical formula

4. Industrial Leave usage for medical appt after the injury

5. When injured by an inmate and more than one body part is injured, the County can't toll time on you during your recovery (1 broken part=1 year recovery)

6. Change the vacation cut-off back to March 1st.

The County wants to take guns and food away like they always do. We have good comps to back our position. Our attorney is in agreement with this.

Our Mediator in in agreement that if we do not see some progress in the next four meetings we have scheduled between now and the end of March (3/8, 3/12, 3/13, 3/20), she will move to certify us to go to arbitration. Hopefully, we can get something put together before that has to be filed.
