11.22.2016---So, last month we gave them that "mini-proposal" with a few articles that we thought we could agree on. This month? They returned the proposal to us with virtually NOTHING agreed upon. They changed the date and returned it to us with no agreements at all. We sat in HR from 9am to 4pm and accomplished NOTHING. The mediator bounced back and forth like a bumble bee on speed. He's really high-strung. The only source of amusement was when he and Buchanan engaged in a political discussion (the guy drives a Prius with Bernie Sanders plates). I thought his head would explode. But I digress...
It has been clear to me frome the start that Admin is in no hurry whatsoever to settle this contract. We have one more date scheduled (12.12). In my opinion, Arbitration is imminent. For those of you that have been around for a few contracts, this is what I have predicted from the beginning: The County will stonewall us all the way through Mediation. Once we're certified by the Mediator for Arbitration and an Arbitrator is selected, the County will throw us a cookie and expect us to eat it up. I can assure you that if your Negotiations Committee feels that any "last, best, and final offer" is not reasonable, we're prepared to see this through to arbitration. See you next month~bparks
