01.28.2016--The County made a few proposals, but no talk of wages. It's difficult to negotiate if you don't get the full proposal. We did agree to a temporary Letter of Understanding (it's not an MOU because it has NOT been agreed to in the contract and is temporary...still has to be bargained). County agreed to this because vacation bids are due 1.31. It's a good thing for you. Basically, it says that the Shift Commanders will keep up to 12 vacation bid requests/day, regardless of how many people are on vacation that day. If someone cancels their vacation, instead of putting out another bid, the LT will just go to the next person on the list that put in an original vacation bid. Everybody wins and it doesn't cost a thing! Without getting into specifics, I can tell you that so far, I'm encouraged. Nothing has been proposed that has been completely unreasonable (like in the past--guns, food etc.). County has not addressed any of our proposals. They submitted a few of there own and there was discussion for clarification, but no negotiation. Our next meeting is Feb 9th. Stay tuned... |
